Implements the previously-`unimplemented!()`
`TestPlatform::prompt_for_paths` so tests can drive the platform Open
dialog deterministically.
Adds `TestAppContext::simulate_path_prompt_response` and
`did_prompt_for_paths`, mirroring the existing `prompt_for_new_path`
test helpers (`simulate_new_path_selection`). The simulated response
validates that callers don't return multiple paths when
`PathPromptOptions::multiple` is false.

This sets the accessibility document property (AXDocument) of the
window, which other apps can use to understand what file the current
window represents. Document-based apps on macOS are generally expected
to set this property.
The document path is set via `Window::set_document_path()` which calls
`setRepresentedFilename:` on the underlying NSWindow. The workspace
updates this path in `update_window_title()` whenever the active item or
project structure changes. For tests, instead of trying to somehow
assemble a proper NSWindow, we store the document path on the window
mock used for testing and check its value.
Motivation: I am the developer of Timing, an automatic time tracking app
for Mac. Timing uses the `AXDocument` property (a standard property of
most document-based app windows on macOS) to understand what document
the user is working on. With this change, Timing is able to understand
which directory the user is working in. Without this, Timing would only
record the window title, i.e. the filename without information about the
containing directory. I've had several users ask for better support for
Zed.
Here's a screenshot of the macOS Accessibility Inspector showing the
`AXDocument` property with this change. The UI of Zed itself does not
change. However, in my dev build of Zed, the traffic lights are a bit
too large and misaligned. However, this happens even when building
`main`, so I assume it’s unrelated to my changes.

## Motivation
This PR unifies the async execution infrastructure between GPUI and
other components that depend on the `scheduler` crate (such as our cloud
codebase). By having a scheduler that lives independently of GPUI, we
can enable deterministic testing across the entire stack - testing GPUI
applications alongside cloud services with a single, unified scheduler.
## Summary
This PR completes the integration of the `scheduler` crate into GPUI,
unifying async execution and enabling deterministic testing of GPUI
combined with other components that depend on the scheduler crate.
## Key Changes
### Scheduler Integration (Phases 1-5, previously completed)
- `TestDispatcher` now delegates to `TestScheduler` for timing, clock,
RNG, and task scheduling
- `PlatformScheduler` implements the `Scheduler` trait for production
use
- GPUI executors wrap scheduler executors, selecting `TestScheduler` or
`PlatformScheduler` based on environment
- Unified blocking logic via `Scheduler::block()`
### Dead Code Cleanup
- Deleted orphaned `crates/gpui/src/platform/platform_scheduler.rs`
(older incompatible version)
## Intentional Removals
### `spawn_labeled` and `deprioritize` removed
The `TaskLabel` system (`spawn_labeled`, `deprioritize`) was removed
during this integration. It was only used in a few places for test
ordering control.
cc @maxbrunsfeld @as-cii - The new priority-weighted scheduling in
`TestScheduler` provides similar functionality through
`Priority::High/Medium/Low`. If `deprioritize` is important for specific
test scenarios, we could add it back to the scheduler crate. Let me know
if this is blocking anything.
### `start_waiting` / `finish_waiting` debug methods removed
Replaced by `TracingWaker` in `TestScheduler` - run tests with
`PENDING_TRACES=1` to see backtraces of pending futures when parking is
forbidden.
### Realtime Priority removed
The realtime priority feature was unused in the codebase. I'd prefer to
reintroduce it when we have an actual use case, as the implementation
(bounded channel with capacity 1) could potentially block the main
thread. Having a real use case will help us validate the design.

Problem:
- The status bar’s pending keystroke indicator (shown next to --NORMAL--
in Vim mode) didn’t clear when focus moved to another context, e.g.
hitting g in the editor then clicking the Git panel. The keymap state
correctly canceled the prefix, but observers that render the indicator
never received a “pending input changed” notification, so the UI kept
showing stale prefixes until a new keystroke occurred.
Fix:
- The change introduces a `pending_input_changed_queued` flag and a new
helper `notify_pending_input_if_needed` which will flushes the queued
notification as soon as we have an App context. The
`pending_input_changed` now resets the flag after notifying subscribers.

We've had several outages with a proximate cause of "vercel is
complicated",
and auto-update is considered a critical feature; so lets not use vercel
for
that.

We very frequently move this in and out of the windows slot map on
`update_window_id` calls (and we call this a lot!). This alone showed up
as `memmove`s at roughly 1% perf in Instruments when scrolling a buffer
which makes sense, `Window` itself is 4kb in size. The fix is simple,
just box the `Window` instances, moving a pointer is cheap in
comparison.

Extracts and cleans up GPUI's scheduler code into a new `scheduler`
crate, making it pluggable by external runtimes. This will enable
deterministic integration testing with cloud components by providing a
unified test scheduler across Zed and backend code. In Zed, it will
replace the existing GPUI scheduler for consistent async task management
across platforms.
## Changes
- **Core Implementation**: `TestScheduler` with seed-based
randomization, session tracking (`SessionId`), and foreground/background
task separation for reproducible testing.
- **Executors**: `ForegroundExecutor` (!Send, thread-local) and
`BackgroundExecutor` (Send, with blocking/timeout support) as

- **Clock and Timer**: Controllable `TestClock` and future-based `Timer`

- **Testing APIs**: `once()`, `with_seed()`, and `many()` methods for

- **Dependencies**: Added `async-task`, `chrono`, `futures`, etc., with
updates to `Cargo.toml` and lock file.

- **Integration Testing**: Facilitates reliable async tests involving
cloud sessions, reducing flakiness via deterministic execution.
- **Pluggability**: Trait-based design (`Scheduler`) allows easy
integration into non-GPUI runtimes while maintaining GPUI compatibility.
- **Cleanup**: Refactors GPUI scheduler logic for clarity, correctness
(no `unwrap()`, proper error handling), and extensibility.

This removes around 900 unnecessary clones, ranging from cloning a few
ints all the way to large data structures and images.
A lot of these were fixed using `cargo clippy --fix --workspace
--all-targets`, however it often breaks other lints and needs to be run
again. This was then followed up with some manual fixing.
I understand this is a large diff, but all the changes are pretty
trivial. Rust is doing some heavy lifting here for us. Once I get it up
to speed with main, I'd appreciate this getting merged rather sooner
than later.

This PR renames the `regex_search` tool to `grep` because I think it
conveys more meaning to the model, the idea of searching the filesystem
with a regular expression. It's also one word and the model seems to be
using it effectively after some additional prompt tuning.
It also takes an include pattern to filter on the specific files we try
to search. I'd like to encourage the model to scope its searches more
aggressively, as in my testing, I'm only seeing it filter on file
extension.

We've been seeing `test_no_duplicated_completion_requests` fail randomly
with the error "condition timed out".
But it's always failing on MacOS, and MacOS sets a shorter timeout of
100ms, compared to 1s from other platforms, this PR increases MacOS's
timeout to match other platforms'.

Reverts the error behavior introduced in #27558. Upper-case keys in
keybindings no longer generate errors, instead they are transformed into
`shift-{KEY}`
e.g. `ctrl-N` becomes `ctrl-shift-n`
The behavior introduced in #27558 where "special" keys such as function
keys, `control`, `shift`, etc. Are parsed case-insensitively is
preserved.

case-insensitively, so for example `F8`, `CTRL`, `SHIFT` are now

converted explicitly to `shift` + the lowercase version of the
character, to match the Vim behavior.

Before this change we would skip saving multibuffers regardless of the
save intent. Now we correctly save them.
Along the way:
* Prompt to save when closing the last singleton copy of an item (even
if it's still open in a multibuffer).
* Update our file name prompt to pull out dirty project items from
multibuffers instead of counting multibuffers as untitled files.
* Fix our prompt test helpers to require passing the button name instead
of the index. A few tests were passing invalid responses to save
prompts.
* Refactor the code a bit to hopefully clarify it for the next bug.
